All Saints Church, Netheravon
United Benefice Service - Sunday 6 July 2008
The whole Benefice welcomed:
Bishop Hilary Luate Adeba
Bishop of Yei in the Episcopal Church of Sudan
The whole Benefice welcomed Bishop Hilary Luate Adeba and Mama Joyce to a well-attended United Benefice Service in All Saint's Church Netheravon. Bishop Hilary gave us a clear impression of life in the Episcopal Church of Sudan following the end of their second war in 2003. The lack of resources, difficulty of retaining skilled people but the determination of the people to return and to rebuild their lives and the fact that the ministry continued throughout. He thanked Salisbury Diocese profusely for its partnership, particularly since this partnership had become hugely practical with the provision of medical supplies and training for the health sector. He went on to speak on the gospel of the day and described his concern at dwindling numbers attending Christian Churches in the United Kingdom and his fear that this would also happen in the Sudan.
